The original tube factory (George Burn) was founded in 1826 in Birmingham, England at the height of the Industrial Revolution. The business specialized in making brass-cased tubes for brass bedsteads, fireplace companion sets, curtain poles and with the introduction of electricity the company developed steel conduit tubes to house electric wiring used in public buildings, even in ocean going liners including the "Queen Mary”, which launched in 1934.
Over the years Rothley has been a major producer of not just tube but a variety of metal hardware products including brass door & cabinet hardware including handles, knobs, hinges, catches and curtain poles.
The business was one of the pioneers of the DIY revolution of the early 1970's with its pre-packed hardware and cut to size tube in display merchandisers as many hardware & ironmongery shops became DIY Stores. Rothley was one of the original suppliers to all of the UK’s major multiple DIY stores.
Today Rothley has expanded to a business offering 12 product categories within the DIY, Building & Hardware market. Our success is forged through relationships - we believe that through building partnerships we can make "hardware easy” for our customers.
We look forward to continuing to build partnerships for the next 200 years!
